چکیده

Background: We analyzed local regional recurrence patterns of thoracic esophageal carcinoma after three-field lymph node dissection (3-FLD) with and without postoperative radiotherapy, assessed the radiation value for control. Methods: The study reviewed 239 recurrences squamous cell 3-FLD from 2010 to 2018 in our hospital, retrospectively, compared between surgery followed by radiotherapy (S+RT) alone (SA). Results: In carcinomas that underwent curative surgery, was most common type patients both groups. sequence rate groups highest lowest mediastinal, cervical, abdominal. superior mediastinal significantly higher than (67.72% vs. 47.54%, x2 = 7.615, P 0.006). abdominal upper TEC lower middle (x2 9.452, 0.009). preoperative LNM very (43.63% 6.66%, < 0.001). Conclusions: dangerous regions included superior, mediastinum, neck. Postoperative shows great reducing rate. segment metastasis, especially para-aortic may be risk factors recurrence.

Radiotherapy alone for patients with operable carcinoma of the lung.

Between 1966 and 1980, 72 patients with operable carcinoma of the lung were treated primarily with radiotherapy because coexisting, nontumor related medical problem, or patient refusal prevented thoracotomy. We compared results obtained in this group with results obtained by thoracotomy in 123 consecutive patients over the age of 70, who were assessed in a similar fashion, but who underwent tho...

Patterns of Failure after Radical Surgery among Patients with Thoracic Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Implications for the Clinical Target Volume Design of Postoperative Radiotherapy

BACKGROUND This study evaluated patterns of treatment failure (especially locoregional failure; LRF) after radical esophagectomy and proposes a clinical target volume (CTV) for postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) among patients with thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). METHODS All patients who were followed up in our center after radical esophagectomy between 2007 and 2011 were re...
